We checked 20 Southport shops, from Wayfarers Arcade's gift shops to Quicksilver's vinyl, for hours, addresses and what each sells. Updated November 2026.

Southport and its villages have 20 independent shops worth a Christmas shopping trip in 2026, and this guide puts them in one place with opening hours, addresses and what each one sells. Wayfarers Arcade, The Atkinson’s shop, Quicksilver Music and Sally Bee Lifestyle in Birkdale are good places to start. Every entry was checked on 5 November 2026 against the shop’s own site, or we say where not.

We have not shopped at any of these for this guide, and nothing here is a review. Each entry says what the shop or its listing says it sells. The hours are regular hours: none of these shops had posted Christmas hours when we checked, so ring ahead in the last week before Christmas.

Dates to know

No late-night shopping dates had been published for Southport when we checked. Southport BID’s Christmas page does not list any, so treat a late night as unconfirmed until a shop or the BID says so.

  • Sunday 8 November: Lord Street, Nevill Street and London Street are among the roads closed from 8am to 1pm for the Remembrance parade.
  • Saturday 14 November: the free Southport Christmas Spectacular runs from 11am to 4pm at the Lord Street Bandstand and outside The Vincent Hotel, so expect Lord Street to be busy. Our Christmas lights page has the details.
  • Sunday 29 November: Formby Hall holds a one-day Christmas market.
  • Saturday 5 December: the Christmas edition of the Southport Artisan Market fills the market hall and Market Street from 10am to 4pm.
  • 4 to 6, 10 to 13 and 17 to 20 December: Christmas cabins at Southport Market on King Street, open to 8pm from Thursday to Saturday. Our Christmas market guide has the times.

Southport BID’s Southport Gift Card is worth knowing about if you cannot choose. The BID says more than 85 town centre businesses take it, and its list includes Baby Love, Medusa Gems and The Atkinson, all below.

Wayfarers Arcade and Lord Street

Wayfarers Arcade is the Grade II listed Victorian arcade set back off Lord Street, opposite the Town Hall. Its own site gives the arcade’s hours as 9am to 5.30pm Monday to Saturday and 10am to 5pm on Sunday, and shops inside can keep different hours. The arcade’s shop pages carry no dates, so ring first if you are going for one particular shop.

1. Lah De Dah

Lah De Dah’s page on the arcade’s site says its owner has worked in retail for 50 years and has spent the last few dealing in antiques. Birkdale Village

Three of these four shops have no website we could read. Their details come from Visit Southport’s guide, written for The Open in July 2026, so they are about four months old. We could not read their Facebook pages. Birkdale is one stop from Southport on the Merseyrail line, and our Christmas train times cover the holidays.

11. Sally Bee Lifestyle

Visit Southport describes Sally Bee as one of the village’s favourite independent boutiques, selling ladies’ clothing, accessories, gifts and homeware, with a separate luxury pre-loved department for designer fashion and handbags. Its online shop has sections for her, him, home and kids, including candles, prints, books and stationery. We could not find its regular hours; the guide’s only times were for The Open week.

National Book Tokens lists it as a stockist.

Before you go

The parking guide lists the town centre car parks. For the rest of the season, see the Santa grottos, ice rinks near Southport, Christmas dinner in Southport, what’s on this month and things to do in Southport. The business directory lists more local firms.

How we chose

We started from Visit Southport’s shopping pages and its visitor guide for The Open, Southport BID’s shopping guide and gift card list, and Wayfarers Arcade’s shop pages, and kept independents that sell things people give as presents and whose details we could check. Chain shops are not listed, though Chapel Street, Central 12 and Ocean Plaza have plenty.

Some well-known names are missing because we could not confirm them on 5 November. We could not check details for The Royal Arcade on Lord Street, Man To Man, Coco Boutique, The Plant Room, Gifts Delight or Jaspers Gifts. We could not confirm a current independent gift or book shop in Formby either. Formby Books has closed, and the Pritchards branch there closed too. Replies from any of these would be an easy addition.

Frequently asked questions

Is there late night Christmas shopping in Southport in 2026?

No late-night shopping dates had been published when we checked on 5 November. The nearest thing is the Christmas market at Southport Market on King Street, open until 8pm from Thursday to Saturday on its December dates. Those are the market’s hours, not the shops’.

Which Southport shops open on Sundays before Christmas?

Wayfarers Arcade lists Sunday hours of 10am to 5pm, though each shop in it can differ. Rebecca’s Jewellers on Lord Street opens 11am to 4.30pm and Pritchards Bookshop in Crosby 10am to 4pm. The Atkinson’s shop opens Monday to Saturday, and Quicksilver Music Thursday to Saturday only.

Is Broadhursts bookshop in Southport open?

We found nothing to say the Market Street shop has reopened. It closed suddenly at the end of summer 2024, with the closure attributed to unsafe electrical wiring. A Broadhursts of Southport storefront is still live on Bookshop.org, so you can buy from it online.
